Govan a village at least as old as Glasgow became part of the city in 1912. Govan was and still is a shipbuilding area.
On the first Friday in June a ram’s head traditional symbol of the hand loom weavers is paraded round the district. This film made for and by a cinema shows the parade of 1947 - featuring of course the local cinema.
Nights out at to the Cinema were massively important in a city with such overcrowded homes and such a poor climate.
